Bon Ami Review
For my review, I was provided the following products from ecomom:
1. Bon Ami Powder Cleanser – 14 oz.
2. Bon Ami Liquid Cleanser Tangerine and Thyme – 25 oz.
3. Bon Ami All Purpose Tangerine and Thyme – 25 oz.
4. Bon Ami Dish Soap Tangerine and Thyme -25 oz.
Before trying, the products, I researched the company’s history and the product ingredients on the Bon Ami website. http://www.bonami.com
Bon Ami was originally developed as a gentle alternative to the gritty quartz-based scouring powders on store shelves in the 1880s. An enterprising young man noticed that the tools used to separate the unused feldspar mineral from the harder quartz were as shiny as silver. Bon Ami was born taking that waste product — feldspar — and mixing it with soap to make a cleanser that polished away dirt and stains without scratching. These days we call that “zero waste.” Back then it was a thrifty way to make a better cleanser. The same ideas are at work again. The Bon Ami formula has been updated for contemporary kitchen surfaces and contemporary sensibilities, with different products to meet different cleaning needs. The ingredients are simple, effective, and proudly listed right on the package. Bon Ami is always biodegradable, nontoxic and hypoallergenic. And be sure to notice the bottles. Yes, they’re a bit foggy sometimes. That’s because Bon Ami is using 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles for their products. Once again, Bon Ami has a use for something others have tossed away. And we don't stop there. Our labels and adhesive are the most compatible with the recycle stream. So go ahead and feel good about these plastic bottles.
I was excited to try these products as I am very conscientious about the chemicals used in my home. I also have quite a few allergies and am sensitive to perfumes and fragrances used in many products. I absolutely love the scent of the Tangerine and Thyme. It really is simple, clean and natural. If you take a big whiff, the scent is subtle and pleasant; no watery eyes from the fake chemical smell.
The Dish Soap cleans as well as any other conventional dish soap I have tried. Because there are no sulfates or other chemicals to make artificial foam, there are not many bubbles with the Bon Ami. But that is not a problem because the bubbles are not what does the cleaning. This product cleans dishes well.
I was also impressed with the All-Purpose Cleaner. It works great for getting those sticky, dried particles off your counter, stove-top, etc. One spray and one wipe and this product removes the mess.
The Liquid Cleanser and Powder Cleanser are both great cleaners that I used to clean sinks, bathtubs, even the barbecue. They work pretty much the same. It is a matter of preference if you like to start with a powder and add your own liquid or if you prefer to have it ready to go with one squirt. They have a little bit of “Grit” for cleaning, but not enough to scratch or cause any damage.
All in all these products clean great, are affordable, and are not damaging to the environment or your health. I will continue to use these products in the future.
